Govt Committed to Restoring J&K’s Statehood: LG Manoj Sinha

Jammu, Mar 3, KNT: Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha reaffirmed on Monday that the government is dedicated to restoring statehood to Jammu and Kashmir.

Addressing members of the J&K Legislative Assembly at the Legislature complex in Jammu, he emphasized that this remains a key demand of the people.

“The restoration of full statehood is one of the primary aspirations of the people of Jammu and Kashmir. My government is fully committed to fulfilling this legitimate expectation of the citizens,” he stated.

The ongoing 40-day budget session will comprise 22 sittings, marking the second session of the Legislative Assembly since J&K became a Union Territory. Two days have been designated for Private Members’ resolutions, while one day is allocated for Private Members’ Bills.

Notably, the first five-day session of the J&K Legislative Assembly as a Union Territory took place in Srinagar from November 4 to 8, 2024. This budget session is the first to be held in the Assembly after seven years, albeit under Union Territory status.
