EJAC Welcomes Committee on Daily Wager Regularisation, Urges Concrete Action

Srinagar, Mar 20, KNT: The Employees Joint Action Committee (EJAC) has welcomed the government’s move to set up a six-member committee, led by Chief Secretary Atul Duloo, to address the regularisation of daily wagers. While acknowledging this as a positive step initiated by Chief Minister Omar Abdullah, EJAC President Fayaz Ahmad Shabnam cautioned that it must lead to real action rather than remain a bureaucratic formality.

Shabnam stressed that despite years of discussions, no concrete measures have been taken. He urged the government to enforce the Minimum Wages Act in J&K, as done in other states and Union Territories, to provide immediate relief to struggling workers. EJAC has called on the Chief Minister, Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha, and top officials to ensure fair wages until regularisation is completed, emphasizing that timely intervention will prevent further hardships and improve workforce efficiency.
