E-Buses Limited to Short Routes Due to Battery Range: J&K Govt

Srinagar, Mar 20, KNT: The Jammu and Kashmir government on Thursday stated that e-buses can operate only for 80-90 km on a full charge, making them suitable for short-distance travel.

Responding to a query by MLA Satish Sharma, Transport Minister said that JKRTC currently runs diesel buses on the Jammu-Machedi route via Billawar and Jammu-Sukrala Mata-Surinsar-Mansar.

He clarified that the existing fleet of e-buses is intended for city operations due to their limited battery range. With Jammu-Billawar spanning 248 km and Jammu-Sukrala Mata (via Dayalachak) covering 252 km, deploying e-buses on such long routes is not feasible at present.
