Anganwadi Workers Protest in Srinagar, Demand Honorarium Hike

Srinagar, Mar 22, KNT: Scores of Anganwadi workers staged a protest at Sher-i-Kashmir Park here on Saturday, demanding an increase in their honorarium. The demonstrators raised slogans, urging the government to address their long-pending demands.

The protesting workers expressed frustration over the authorities’ inaction, stating that their repeated pleas had been ignored. “No lawmaker speaks for us in the assembly. Our voices are going unheard,” said one of the protesters.

They lamented that despite their dedicated service, they continue to receive a meager honorarium, making it difficult to sustain their families. Warning of intensified agitation, the workers threatened to take to the streets daily along with their families if their demands were not met.

The protesters urged Chief Minister Omar Abdullah and Health Minister Sakina Itoo to intervene and ensure a fair increase in their remuneration without further delay.
