Srinagar, Mar 26, KNT: Union Home Minister Amit Shah on Tuesday welcomed the decision of two Hurriyat Conference constituents—Jammu and Kashmir People’s Movement and Democratic Political Movement—to sever ties with separatism, calling it a major step towards strengthening national unity.
Taking to social media platform X, Shah asserted that the unifying policies of the Narendra Modi-led government have effectively eliminated separatism from Jammu and Kashmir.
“Two organisations of the Hurriyat, J&K People’s Movement and the Democratic Political Movement, have announced the severing of all ties with separatism. I welcome this step towards strengthening Bharat’s unity and urge all such groups to come forward and shed separatism once and for all,” Shah wrote.
The Union Home Minister further claimed that separatism has now become history in Kashmir and credited the development to Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s vision of a peaceful, unified, and developed Bharat.
The move by the two political groups marks a significant shift in the political landscape of Jammu and Kashmir, where separatist sentiment has long been a source of political and security challenges. (KNT)
