Srinagar, Mar 20, KNT: The government on Wednesday informed the House that 290 consultant posts out of a sanctioned 852 and 23 senior consultant posts out of 42 remain vacant in district hospitals across Jammu and Kashmir.
In a written reply to NC MLA Arjun Singh Raju, Health Minister Sakina Itoo stated that 562 consultants are in position, while vacancies are being filled through a 60:40 ratio—60% via JKPSC recruitment and 40% through promotions. The promotion process is under review, and direct recruitment will soon be referred to JKPSC.
She added that all 23 vacant senior consultant posts fall under the promotional quota and are being processed. In Ramban District Hospital, only 5 out of 22 consultant positions are filled, leaving 17 vacant.
