Two Shops Sealed in Beerwah for Selling Expired Food Items

Beerwah, Mar 25, KNT: Authorities sealed two shops in Beerwah market after expired food items were found being sold during a market inspection led by Tehsildar Beerwah, Moin Kokru. The joint team, comprising officials from Food Safety, Police, and Municipality, confirmed that the complaints against the shop were valid.

Tehsildar Beerwah warned meat sellers to strictly adhere to government-fixed prices, cautioning that violations would invite legal action. He also directed all shopkeepers to display rate lists clearly and refrain from unethical trading practices.

The public welcomed the initiative and demanded regular inspections to ensure quality products at fair prices. Meanwhile, all food business operators have been instructed not to sell expired food items, failing which action under the Food Safety and Standards Act will be taken.

Tehsildar Kokru emphasized that the drive against overpricing and unethical practices will continue across the district to ensure consumer rights are protected. [KNT]
