Waleed Karra Defends Participation in Official Meetings, Cites Father’s Nomination

Srinagar, Feb 19, KNT: Dr. Waleed Karra, son of Congress leader and legislator Tariq Hamid Karra, has clarified that he attends official review meetings not in a personal capacity but as an officially nominated representative of the Shalteng Assembly segment.
Responding to reports about his participation in a recent official meeting, Waleed Karra stated that his father, who was in Doda at the time, had designated him as in charge of the Shalteng constituency, a decision communicated to all relevant departments.
He emphasized that he has attended multiple official meetings in his father’s absence, including one in Srinagar presided over by Education and Medical Education Minister Sakina Itoo.
“This is a normal practice and has been unnecessarily turned into a controversy,” he said, adding that other legislators also send representatives when they are out of station.
He further clarified that he receives formal invitations for such meetings, including the one he attended yesterday. [KNT]
