Poonch, Feb 6, KNT: A Junior Commissioned Officer (JCO) of the Indian Army was found dead with a bullet injury in the Mendhar sector of Jammu and Kashmir’s Poonch district on Thursday, officials said.

The incident took place in a border area when fellow soldiers discovered the Naib Subedar lying injured. He was immediately rushed to a nearby hospital, but doctors declared him dead on arrival.

The Army has launched an investigation to determine the circumstances surrounding his death. While initial reports suggest the possibility of suicide, other sources indicate that the officer may have died due to gunfire. The exact cause remains unclear, pending further inquiry. [KNT]
