Communal Poster Removed in Bhopal After Public Backlash

Bhopal, Feb 15, KNT: A controversial poster at Jehangirabad Crossing was taken down on Thursday following strong objections from local residents. The poster, reportedly put up by Mahila Jagruti Samiti, called on Hindus to hire only workers from their own community, raising concerns about communal disharmony.
The poster featured names and contact details of Hindu professionals from various trades, including painters, plumbers, electricians, vegetable vendors, and tailors. It also displayed a photograph of the samiti’s president, Sadhna Nandu Yadav.
Members of the Muslim community expressed outrage, stating that such a message threatened the unity of Bhopal, a city known for its cultural diversity. A memorandum was submitted to Jehangirabad police, demanding the poster’s removal and action against those responsible.
Acting swiftly, Jehangirabad police, in coordination with the municipal corporation, dismantled the poster. Station in-charge Ashutosh Upadhyay confirmed the removal and acknowledged the residents’ concerns.
While the immediate response has quelled tensions, authorities have not yet clarified whether further legal steps will be taken against those behind the poster.
