Young Labourer Drowns While Excavating Sand from Jhelum River in South Kashmir’s Pulwama

 

Kakapora, Jan 9, KNT: A 21-year-old labourer drowned during sand excavation from the Jhelum River in the Hajibal area of Kakapora, in South Kashmir’s Pulwama, on Thursday morning.

“The deceased, identified as Raqib Ahmad, son of Muhammad Ismail Dar, originally from Hajibal but currently residing in Lethpora, Pulwama, drowned while mining sand in the river,” officials said.

According to officials, the incident occurred during the early hours. Despite prompt rescue efforts, the victim could not be saved.

Authorities have initiated an investigation to determine the circumstances surrounding the incident. [KNT]
