Wildlife Department Casual Labourers Protest in Srinagar, Demand Regularization

Srinagar, Jan 25, KNT: Casual labourers from the Wildlife Department of Jammu and Kashmir staged a protest outside the residence of Chief Minister Omar Abdullah in Srinagar, demanding regularization of their services. Scores of employees gathered at the protest site, raising slogans in favor of their long-pending demand.

The protesting workers urged the government, particularly Chief Minister Omar Abdullah, to take immediate action and ensure their regularization without further delay. “We have been serving in the department for years, yet we are still treated as casual labourers. We demand job security and fair wages,” said one of the protestors.

The protesters expressed frustration over the government’s inaction despite repeated appeals. “We contribute to the protection of Kashmir’s wildlife, but our own livelihood remains uncertain. The authorities must recognize our dedication and regularize us at the earliest,” another protestor added.

The protesters warned that if their demands were not met, they would intensify their agitation in the coming days.

Shortly after the culmination of the protest, National Conference patron Dr Farooq Abdullah invited some of the representatives for a dialogue inside his house. [KNT]
