Pantha Chowk Police Crack Down on Illegal Mining, Seize 8 Vehicles in Night Operation

 

Srinagar, Jan 27, KNT: In a decisive action against illegal mining activities, Srinagar Police seized eight vehicles involved in the unauthorized transportation of mining materials during a night-long operation in the Panthachowk area of city outskirts.

The operation, conducted late Sunday night, targeted individuals and vehicles engaged in the illegal mining trade, which poses a significant threat to the environment and natural resources. The seized vehicles were found transporting mining materials without proper authorization.

A case has been registered under FIR No. 08/25, and investigations are currently underway to identify and prosecute those involved in this unlawful activity.

Srinagar Police have reiterated their commitment to curbing illegal mining and its associated environmental impact. “We urge the public to refrain from participating in illegal mining or the unauthorized transportation of mining materials,” a police spokesperson said.

The authorities have also appealed to residents to report any such activities in their localities, emphasizing the importance of community involvement in safeguarding the region’s natural resources.

This operation is part of a broader effort by the police to address environmental violations and ensure compliance with legal norms governing resource extraction. Further action is expected as investigations progress.
