National Conference Considers Nominating Dogra Leader for Rajya Sabha Seat
Srinagar, Jan 25, KNT: In a strategic move aimed at strengthening its influence in Jammu, the National Conference is reportedly considering nominating a prominent Dogra leader for a seat in the Rajya Sabha, sources informed Kashmir News Trust.
According to reliable sources, discussions are currently underway within the party regarding the potential nomination of a popular Dogra figure from Jammu to the upper house. While the final decision has not been made, the move is seen as an effort by NC to bolster its representation from the Jammu region and address concerns over regional balance within the party’s leadership.
One of the names being speculated for the Rajya Sabha nomination is Sunil Dimple, a well-known Dogra leader from Jammu. Sources suggest that Dimple, who gained widespread recognition for his role in uniting Jammu and Kashmir, is being considered due to his strong political standing and his ability to galvanize the masses.
Sunil Dimple rose to prominence for his leadership during several key agitations, particularly against the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) when many regional leaders remained silent. His activism, particularly in challenging the BJP’s policies in the Jammu region, earned him a solid base of support among the people of Jammu.
Sources close to the NC have stated that the party sees Dimple as a leader who could appeal to both the masses and the party’s central leadership, given his past contributions and his significant political presence in Jammu.
