Locals Demand Action Over Long-Serving Employees in Bandipora Welfare Office

Bandipora, Jan 10, KNT: Prolonged postings of some employees at the District Social Welfare Office, Bandipora, have sparked demands for their immediate transfer to ensure compliance with service rules and curb alleged irregularities.

Locals said that one employee has held the same position since 2015, while another has been stationed there since 2012, both far exceeding the standard tenure under service regulations.

“Their extended tenures have fueled allegations of corruption, particularly concerning welfare schemes, raising questions about administrative accountability.”

Sources within the department pointed out that the breach of transfer norms undermines the integrity of the office, potentially allowing undue influence and misuse of authority. Locals and insiders alike have called for intervention from the Ministry of Social Welfare, urging regular transfers to promote transparency and prevent monopolization of power.

They have appealed to the Government to take swift action, ensuring adherence to rules and breaking any nexus that may hinder fair governance. “Timely transfers are essential for accountability and to restore trust in public institutions,” said concerned citizens. [KNT]
