BJP Calls for Direct Train Service Between New Delhi and Srinagar
Srinagar, Jan 10, KNT: Er Aijaz Hussian, Senior BJP Leader, DDC Member, and Haj Committee Member of India, has urged the central government, led by Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw, to introduce direct train services between New Delhi and Srinagar. While the current Katra train services have been useful, Hussian emphasized that a direct train connection to Srinagar is crucial to address challenges faced by travelers, especially patients, students, and the tourism sector.
The existing train system, which requires passengers to change trains at multiple stations, is particularly difficult for patients seeking medical treatment, making the journey long and uncomfortable. A direct train would provide a quicker, more convenient, and less stressful option for travelers, particularly those in urgent need of healthcare.
Hussian also highlighted the benefits for students from Jammu and Kashmir studying outside the state, as direct train connectivity would make their journeys more affordable and efficient. He said the direct service would be a boost to the tourism sector, making Srinagar more accessible to domestic and international tourists and contributing to regional economic growth. [KNT]
