Army Fires at Pakistani Drone in Poonch, Search Operation Underway

Poonch, Jan 22, KNT: Army troops opened fire early Wednesday to intercept a Pakistani drone that crossed the Line of Control (LoC) into the Mendhar sector of Poonch district, officials said.

The drone, detected around 1 a.m., briefly hovered near the border fence before retreating into the other side of Kashmir. Soldiers fired nearly a dozen rounds in an attempt to neutralize the aerial threat.

“Following the incident, a search operation was launched at first light to rule out any possible airdropping of weapons or narcotics by the drone,” officials added.

The operation was still ongoing at the time of the last reports. [KNT]
