Altaf Bukhari Lauds Kashmiri Ulema’s Efforts to Address Waqf Amendment Bill Concerns

 

Srinagar, Jan 25, KNT: Jammu Kashmir Apni Party President Syed Mohammad Altaf Bukhari has commended the initiative taken by prominent Kashmiri Ulema, led by Mirwaiz Umar Farooq, to meet with the chairman of the Joint Parliamentary Committee in New Delhi to discuss their serious concerns regarding the proposed Waqf Amendment Bill.

In a statement, Bukhari described the move as a bold and pragmatic step. “It is a matter of great satisfaction that Kashmir’s Ulema, under the leadership of Mirwaiz Umar Farooq, traveled to New Delhi to voice their profound concerns about the proposed Waqf Amendment Bill,” he said.

He praised the Ulema for presenting their arguments both verbally and in writing, ensuring their stance was conveyed without ambiguity. “This proactive approach highlights the importance of engaging in decision-making processes to address critical matters affecting the community,” Bukhari added.

While the outcome of the proposed amendment bill remains uncertain, Bukhari emphasized that the Ulema’s proactive engagement has been a significant contribution to raising awareness about the community’s concerns. [KNT]
