Three Village Defense Guard Members Killed in Militancy-Related Incidents in Jammu Region This Year

Srinagar, Dec 31, KNT: Jammu region witnessed a spate of targeted attacks on Village Defense Guard (VDG) members in 2024, leaving three dead and one injured.

The first incident occurred in the Basantgarh area of Udhampur district, where Muhammad Sharif, a VDG member from Lower Ponar, was shot dead by militants in the Chochru Gala Heights.

Another attack took place in the Assar forest area of Doda, where a VDG member sustained injuries in a militant ambush.

The most severe attack occurred in the Ohli Kuntwara forest area of Kishtwar, where two VDG members, Nazir Ahmed and Kuldeep Kumar, were killed by militants. The double killing sparked widespread protests in the area. [KNT]
