Rahullah Mehdi’s protest participation a “setback” for NC, Says Salman Sagar
Srinagar, Dec 24, KNT: National Conference legislator Salman Sagar today clarified the party’s stance regarding Member of Parliament Rahullah Mehdi’s participation in Monday’s reservation protest.
Speaking to reporters at party headquarters in Srinagar, Sagar claimed that the protest was not organized by the NC but by individuals he described as “enemies of the party.”
Salman Sagar as per the news agency Kashmir News Trust asserted that Rahullah Mehdi attended the protest in his personal capacity and not as a representative of the National Conference. “It was not a protest of National Conference. Not a single leader from NC participated,” he said, highlighting that Mehdi’s participation was a deviation from the party’s discipline and a setback for its image.
The legislator expressed disappointment over the incident, calling it an unfortunate opportunity for detractors to malign the party. “This was a drama and theatrics to defame the National Conference, and unfortunately, our MP gave them a chance to play in the galleries,” Sagar remarked.
Salman Sagar reiterated his support for the students involved in the reservation matter. He expressed optimism that the concerns surrounding the reservation issue would be resolved under the leadership of Chief Minister Omar Abdullah. “I am not against the students and am hopeful that this issue will be addressed,” he added.
