Police recover dead body of a former VDG in Udhampur forests

Udhampur, Dec 3, KNT: Police Tuesday recovered the dead body of a former Village Defense Guard (VDG) in the Chapper area of Udhampur district.

Sources told the news agency Kashmir News Trust that a rifle was found lying beside the dead body.

Police identified the deceased as Ashok Kumar, (45) son of Romal Chand, a resident of Chapper Udhampur.

Police took custody of the body for medico-legal formalities.

A police official said that a case has been registered and they have initiated an investigation into the mysterious circumstances surrounding Kumar’s death. [KNT]
