Jammu records higher traffic accidents and fatalities than Srinagar in first ten months of 2024
Srinagar, Dec 13, KNT: Official data comparing traffic accidents between Jammu and Srinagar districts in the first ten months of 2024 reveals a stark contrast in the number of accidents, fatalities, and injuries.
The official data available with the news agency Kashmir News Trust reveals that Jammu district recorded significantly higher figures than Srinagar.
From January to October 2024, Srinagar city and outskirts reported 395 traffic accidents, resulting in 43 fatalities and 410 injuries. In contrast, Jammu city and its outskirts witnessed a much higher number of 910 road accidents, which claimed 105 lives and left 1,218 individuals injured.
The data highlights specific months with alarming figures in both districts. In Srinagar, June was the deadliest month, with 8 fatalities reported. Meanwhile, in Jammu, May saw the highest number of road accidents, with 113 incidents resulting in 32 deaths.
The data reveals that Srinagar has more traffic regulations in place than Jammu where every month from January to October, road accident numbers have surpassed the 70 mark. [KNT]
