Iltija Mufti urges reversal of ration card cancellation order
Srinagar, Dec 20, KNT: People’s Democratic Party leader Iltija Mufti, Friday criticized the newly elected Jammu and Kashmir government for canceling 1.27 lakh ration cards belonging to families classified as below the poverty line (BPL). She described the decision as “unwarranted and cruel,” asserting that it has caused significant distress among affected families.
Iltija Mufti said that she is surprised at the move, particularly given the government’s earlier promises. “This is the same government that, in its manifesto, promised free ration and flour to the people. It is shocking to see them now canceling the ration cards of poor families,” she said.
She urged the administration to reconsider its decision, emphasizing the hardship it has brought upon vulnerable sections of society. “I hope the government will revisit this ill-timed order, which has put people in great distress,” she added. [KNT]
