Congress will continue to push for the restoration of statehood to J&K: Tariq Karra
Srinagar, Dec 7, KNT: Jammu and Kashmir Pradesh Congress Committee President Tariq Hamid Karra Saturday emphasized the crucial need for restoring statehood to Jammu and Kashmir, stressing its importance for both the region and the nation. Karra highlighted the Congress party’s consistent efforts in raising this issue, not only in Jammu but also in other areas like Rajouri, since the revocation of Article 370 in August 2019.
“The restoration of statehood is vital for the people of Jammu and Kashmir and aligns with national interests,” Karra said.
He expressed concern over the Central Government’s reluctance to address the demand. He questioned the Bharatiya Janata Party’s inaction, saying that repeated reminders to the Prime Minister and Home Minister haven’t yielded any results.
Karra reiterated the Congress party’s commitment to pushing for statehood restoration, deeming it essential for the well-being and development of Jammu and Kashmir’s people. “We will not back down on this demand,” he concluded. [KNT]
