Viral Video: Himachal woman apologizes, Kashmir shawl sellers forgive her, ask police not to press charges
Srinagar, Nov 26, KNT: Two Kashmiri shawl sellers in Himachal Pradesh’s Hamirpur district who were subjected to harassment and religious slurs by a local woman have forgiven the said woman requesting the police not to press charges against her.
National Convenor – Jammu Kashmir Kashmir Students Association Nasir Khuehami told the news agency Kashmir News Trust that the accused woman formally apologized and admitted her mistake.
The video of a woman harassing two Kashmiri shawl sellers, asking them there is no place for any Kashmiri in Himachal had gone viral and sparked widespread condemnation online.
Nasir Khuehami said that the woman formally apologized for her actions, admitting her mistake and expressing deep regret. “The victims, in a remarkable display of forgiveness, chose to pardon her and requested the police not to press charges,” he said.
He commended the Himachal Pradesh government for promptly addressing the issue. “The woman was detained and questioned for her communal behavior, and the police were prepared to file an FIR before the victims decided to forgive her,” Khuehami said. [KNT]
