Teacher Grade III Conversions: DSEK drops 45 cases after 2-year delay
Srinagar, Nov 25, KNT: The Directorate of School Education Kashmir (DSEK) has come under scrutiny for dropping 45 Teacher Grade III conversion cases to Teacher Grade II. Despite submitting their files over two years ago, these teachers have been left in limbo.
The affected teachers claim that their files were submitted in accordance with the government’s pro forma, complete with all required documents. However, the DSEK has only cleared 150 teachers for conversion, citing the need for additional documents that were not specified in the pro forma.
One of the dropped teachers told the news agency Kashmir News Trust that the requirement for a bona fide certificate was not mentioned in the pro forma, nor was it demanded by the Director of School Education. The teacher questioned why the DSEK did not request the necessary documents two years ago when the files were first submitted.
Another teacher alleged that there is a deep-seated nexus of corruption between clerks and trade union leaders, which has led to teachers being dropped for not paying bribes. The teacher claimed that those who refuse to pay bribes are being coerced into doing so by being dropped from the conversion process.
The teachers demanded transparency and accountability. They called for a thorough investigation into the matter. [KNT]
