LG Govt axes two employees over ‘militant links’ in J&K
Srinagar, Nov 29, KNT: The Lieutenant Governor Administration in Jammu Kashmir terminated two more government employees from the services on charges of militant links.
These employees are Abdul Rehman Naika son of Muhammad Assan Naika of Qasba Devsar, Kulgam who is a Pharmacist in Health and Medical Education Department and teacher, Zahir Abbas son of Irshad Ahmad of Badhat Saroor village of Kishtwar district.
This move marks the first instance of government employee termination since the Omar Abdullah-led National Conference Government assumed power in Jammu and Kashmir. Several political parties during the election process had promised that they will consider the cases of employees terminated in the erstwhile state after the abrogation of special status in 2019.
Jammu Kashmir General Administration Department in this regard issued twin order which read that the Lieutenant Governor is satisfied after considering the facts and circumstances of these cases and on the basis of the information available these employees are being dismissed. The twin orders further read that in the interest of the security of the State, it is not expedient to hold an enquiry in these cases.
Over 64 government employees, including policemen and teachers, have been terminated in Jammu and Kashmir since the abrogation of Article 370, citing militant links or security concerns. [KNT]
