Kashmiri teen Ali Shabir Gojwari wins prestigious ‘Emerging Artist Award’
Srinagar, Nov 9, KNT: Ali Shabir Gojwari, a 19-year-old music prodigy from Srinagar, has been felicitated with the esteemed Emerging Artist of the Year award by the Kashmir Rabab Academy at the vibrant ‘Funkaar-e-Kashmir’ ceremony held at the Sher-i-Kashmir International Convention Centre.
Ali’s remarkable journey in music began eight years ago, and his unique blend of English and Kashmiri folk genres has earned him widespread recognition. His dedication to promoting the traditional Rabab instrument sets him apart in Kashmir’s artistic community.
“I am grateful to Delhi Public School (DPS) Srinagar for nurturing my talent,” Ali shared. “This award motivates me to promote Kashmiri Rabab music further,” he said.
Ali has represented Kashmir at national levels, including the Kala Utsav competition. Kashmir Rabab Academy founder Nazir Ganaie praised Ali’s contribution to Kashmir’s rich musical heritage.
“Ali’s work reflects Kashmir’s vibrant cultural heritage. We’re excited to see him grow as an artist and inspire others,” Ganaie said.
The event, organized by the Jhelum Arts and Culture Foundation, brought together diverse artists and dignitaries, including Nanni Singh, Gina Gonsolves, and Rumpa Banerjee, who praised Ali’s talent and commitment.
MLA Farooq Ahmad Shah commended the organizers for preserving and promoting Jammu and Kashmir’s cultural heritage. He assured the gathering of the government’s commitment to fostering the arts and culture sector.
