Houses of two suspects raided for spreading ‘malicious narratives’ in Srinagar
Srinagar, Nov 30, KNT: Police in Srinagar city raided the houses of two people allegedly involved in spreading malicious narratives against the national interest.
Police said the raids were conducted in Batamaloo and HMT areas of Srinagar after getting proper permission from the court of the National Investigation Agency.
The raids were conducted at the houses of Obais Riyaz Dar of Bonpora Batamaloo, and Sahil Noor Bhat of HMT, Zainakot. Police said both these absconding persons were named in an FIR vide number 65/2024 under section 13 UA(P) Act registered in Police Station Shergari.
Section 13 of the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act, (UAPA) states that anyone who takes part in or commits an unlawful activity, or advocates, abets, advises, or incites the commission of an unlawful activity, is punishable with imprisonment for up to seven years and a fine
Police as per the news agency Kashmir News Trust stated that the investigation is going on against these individuals who were found prima facia involved in orchestrating a campaign of manufacturing fabricated and malicious narratives by way of disseminating twisted and false information to provoke people to unlawful and violent activities.
The police said incriminating materials and electronic devices have been seized during the search operation. “More such searches in the houses of identified suspects involved in malicious and seditious propaganda would be conducted in the coming days,” the police added. [KNT]
