Government forms Sub-Committee to review Reservation Policy
Srinagar, Nov 12, KNT: Jammu and Kashmir government has constituted a sub-committee to take a comprehensive look at the state’s reservation policy. The decision was made during a cabinet meeting, where Chief Minister Omar Abdullah emphasized the need for a holistic approach to address the concerns of various stakeholders.
Chief Minister Omar Abdullah while talking to reporters in Srinagar said that the sub-committee, comprising three ministers, has been tasked with ensuring that justice is done and nobody’s rights are compromised. He said that youth from the open merit category feel their rights have been taken away, while those from reserved categories demand protection of their rights.
The formation of the sub-committee comes amidst demands to rationalize the new reservation policy implemented by the previous BJP government. Omar Abdullah assured that the sub-committee will take a holistic view to prevent any feelings of injustice. [KNT]
