Education Department in J&K sets age criterion for Nursery Admissions

 

 

Srinagar, Nov 30, KNT: The Jammu and Kashmir School Education Department has established a deadline for calculating the minimum age requirement for nursery admissions, following the restoration of the November-December academic calendar in the Kashmir division and winter zones of Jammu division.

As per the National Education Policy-2020 (NEP-2020), children seeking admission to nursery, Balvatika, pre-school, or Anganwadi must be at least three years old . To align with this policy, the department has fixed November 30 as the reckoning date for determining the minimum age of children seeking admission in Kashmir division and winter zones of Jammu division.

An order issued by Suresh Kumar Gupta, Principal Secretary to the Government, a copy of which lies with the news agency Kashmir News Trust reads that all educational institutions in Jammu and Kashmir have been directed to strictly adhere to the guidelines, ensuring a hassle-free admission process. “This move aims to streamline the admission process and provide clarity to parents and institutions alike.”

The directive, applies to all schools in Kashmir division and winter zones of Jammu division. [KNT]
