Congress Boycotts Ministry Roles, Seeks J&K Statehood Restoration
Srinagar, Oct 16, KNT: Jammu and Kashmir Pradesh Congress Committee (JKPCC) Chief Tariq Hameed Karra announced on Wednesday that the Congress party will not be part of any ministry in the new J&K Government.
Karra’s decision comes in response to the central government’s failure to restore statehood to Jammu and Kashmir, a promise made by the Prime Minister in public meetings.
“The Congress party has strongly demanded the restoration of statehood, but despite repeated assurances, it has not happened,” Karra said.
“We are unhappy with the central government’s inaction and have decided not to join any ministry,” he added.
Karra reaffirmed the party’s commitment to fighting for the restoration of statehood, prioritizing the interests of the people of Jammu and Kashmir. [KNT]
