Campaign material seized from BJP workers on polling day, police take action

Kathua, Oct 1, KNT: In a swift response to allegations of election rule violations, police in Kathua’s Banni Zone seized campaign material from BJP agents and registered an FIR against them.

The agents were found carrying BJP posters and other materials inside a polling booth at Government High School Dhaggar, sparking protest from opposition candidates and supporters.

In Bani Assembly segment a triangular contest is underway between BJP’s Jeevan Lal, INC’s Ms Kajal, and PDP’s Romesh Chander Verma. Democratic Progressive Azad Party’s Ghaui Shankar is also in the fray.

Opposition candidates alleged that BJP workers flouted election rules and employed coercive tactics to influence voters. However, they expressed satisfaction over the swift action from the police. [KNT]
