Is the DPAP Candidate going to withdraw in favor of Apni Party in Devsar Assembly segment?

Kulgam, Sep 6, KNT: Democratic Progressive Azad Party (DPAP) candidate Muhammad Amin Bhat is expected to withdraw his nomination in favor of Apni Party candidate Reyaz Ahmed Bhat for the Devsar Assembly segment in South Kashmir.

Reliable sources told the news agency Kashmir News Trust that Bhat has met with top Apni Party leaders and is likely to either withdraw his nomination or openly support the Apni Party candidate within the next few days.

Bhat, a former Indian National Congress leader, won the Devsar Assembly segment in 2014, defeating PDP’s Sartaj Madni. However, after joining the Azad camp and subsequently the DPAP, sources suggest that he has lost his voter base.

If Bhat withdraws, the Devsar Assembly segment will witness a triangular contest between PDP’s Sartaj Madni, NC’s Pirzada Feroz, and Apni Party’s Reyaz Ahmed Bhat. The segment is scheduled to go to polls on September 18. [KNT]
