BJP lodges police complaint over viral ‘fake’ letter
Srinagar, Sep 11, KNT: The Bhartiya Janata Party (BJP) has lodged an FIR against unknown individuals for creating and circulating a fake letter attributed to former J&K party president Ravinder Raina. The letter, which has gone viral, directs party workers to participate in a grand welcome rally for Awami Ittihad Party (AIP) leader Engineer Rashid, who was recently granted bail by a Delhi court.
The BJP has distanced itself from the letter, terming it a “sheer attempt to mislead and defame” the party. Sajid Yousuf Shah, the party’s media in-charge, confirmed that a complaint has been filed at Raj Bagh police station to identify the individuals responsible for creating and spreading the fake letter.
Engineer Rashid is scheduled to arrive in the Valley on Friday, and the fake letter has sparked controversy ahead of his return.
The party has urged the police to take swift action against those responsible for creating and circulating the fake letter, which is seen as an attempt to damage the party’s reputation and create confusion among its workers. [KNT]
