Sopore mysterious blast kills 4 persons, Police register case

Baramulla, July 29, KNT: At least four persons including were killed in a mysterious blast inside the lawn of a scrap dealer in Sopore town of North Kashmir’s Baramulla district on Monday.

The blast occurred at the Sher Colony area of Sopore in the lawns of a house owner Abdul Rashid Bhat who lost his son in the blast.

Sopore Police have registered a case and initiated a probe.

An eyewitness present at Sub-District Hospital Sopore told the news agency Kashmir News Trust that after unloading scrap from the truck that came from Ladakh, several people started extracting different kinds of metals from it.

During this process, a loud bang was heard, leading to the injuries to several people while one of them died on the spot,” he said adding that the injured were rushed to Sub-District Hospital Sopore.

Four people died in the blast whom hospital sources identified as Nazir Ahmed Nadro (39), Azam Ashraf Mir (21), Adil Rashid Bhat (22) and Muhammad Azhar Fafoo (19), all residents of Sher Colony Sopore.

A police official said that a formal case in this regard has been registered and a probe has been initiated. [KNT]
