Administration in Central Kashmir’s Budgam district has imposed a fine of Rs 50,000 against District President Food Employees Association for allegedly littering the public park in the district.

The district administration has even threatened to declare the election of the newly elected body of the Food Employees Association null and void, if it fails to pay the fine.

An order issued by the office of Deputy Commissioner Budgam informs that Food Supplies Employees Association had sought permission to conduct an event at Behisht-e-Zehra (SA) Park adjacent to DC Office Budgam to meet

out the prolonged issues of the department.

The order reads that the organizers have not maintained sanitation of the park and raw material, eatables etc, were found around the venue which shows the irresponsible behavior and non-seriousness of the organizers of the event.

Taking cognizance of the evelopment, the district administration has imposed a penalty of Rs 50,000 on the organizers and has asked them to deposit the fine in the District Red Cross Account within two days failing which, the election of the newly elected body will be declared null and void.

District President Food Supplies Association Ajaz Khan told the news agency Kashmir News Trust that they have already written a letter to Deputy Commissioner Budgam requesting him to consider the order. “The organizers have already admitted the folly and have requested the authorities to charge a fine in four digits only from them,” he said.

Pertinently, most roads and streets in Budgam lack bins and in places where there are bins, they are not easy to spot or are overflowing with garbage. [KNT]
