Traffic Police challans a traffic cop for riding on a two-wheeler without a helmet

Traffic Police Jammu challaned a pillion rider who happens to be a traffic cop in Jammu.
Police said that departmental action will also be taken against the accused cop.
Notably, a video was shared on social media on 24th of this month which went viral. The video shows two cops in uniform – the driver with a helmet while the pillion rider without a helmet driving on Kunjwani road in Jammu.
After the video surfaced netizens demanded action against the cops. Taking note of the incident, traffic police challaned the accused cop who according to news agency Kashmir News Trust has been identified as Raman Kumar, a resident of Kathua district.
Police said that action under section 194-D (pillion rider without a helmet) Motor Vehicles Act has been taken against the cop and the challan of Rs 1000 has been exacted from him.
“Both officials identified and appropriate action has been taken. They will face departmental action too. Everyone must respect the law and follow prescribed rules,” said an official from Traffic Police Department. [KNT]
