Joint Forces arrested two militants affiliated with Lashkar-e-Taiba in South Kashmir’s Shopian district, police said.
Police said that based on the specific input, a joint checkpoint was laid by Police shopian, 44RR, and CRPF 178 at village Trenz shopian
During the Checking of vehicles and frisking of pedestrians movement of 2 suspected persons was noticed who on being challenged to stop started fleeing away from the spot but were chased and apprehended tactfully by the alert joint checkpoint parties.
On questioning, they disclosed their name as Faizan Fayaz Bhat of Budden Rafiabad Sopore and Yawar Nizam Mir of Konsoo shopian.
Arms and ammunition including 02 Pistols, 02 Pistol magazines, 02 Grenade,20 9mm live ammunition, 1AK 47 magazine and 50 AK live ammunition have been recovered from their possession.
During further questioning, they revealed their association with the proscribed militant organization LeT.
An FIR vide number 39/2022 under relevant of sections of law stands registered in Police Station Imamsahib and further investigation into the matter is in progress. (KNT)
