Police recover 30 kg IED in South Kashmir, Encounter underway in Central Kashmir

Police recovered an Improvised Explosive Device (IED) weighing around 25 to 30 kgs near Tahab Crossing on Circular road in South Kashmir’s Pulwama on Wednesday morning.

Additional Director General of Police (ADGP), Kashmir, Vijay Kumar confirmed that a major tragedy was averted by specific input generated by the Pulwama Police.

“An IED weighing approx. 25 to 30 Kgs recovered near Tahab Crossing on Circular road in Pulwama by Police and Security Forces. A major tragedy has been averted by specific input generated by Pulwama Police: ADGP Kashmir informed through a tweet.

Meanwhile, an encounter is underway between security forces and militants in Central Kashmir’s Budgam.

Police said that at least three Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT) militants, including Lateef Rather, who was allegedly involved in the killing of Kashmiri pandit government employee Rahul Bhat in May 2022, are trapped in the ongoing encounter at Watarhal village.

ADGP (Kashmir Zone) Vijay Kumar said the three LeT militants, including Rather were trapped in the Budgam encounter.

Police said in a tweet that three militants of militant outfit LeT (TRF) including Lateef Rather are trapped in the ongoing encounter.

It said that militant Lateef is involved in several civilian killings including Rahul Bhat & Amreen Bhat.
