Jammu Kashmir Director General of Police Dilbagh Singh Wednesday said that two persons -involved in the killing of Kashmiri Pandit in South Kashmir’s Shopian district have been identified and strict action will be initiated against them.
Pertinently, militants, yesterday fired upon two brothers in Chotigam village resulting in the death of Sunil Kumar while his brother Pintu Kumar sustained injuries.
The killing of the Pandit sparked a protest in Jammu today while Pandit organizations appealed to Pandit community living in Valley to leave Kashmir.
Responding to a volley of questions about the Shopian incident Police Chief Dilbagh Singh said that duo is involved in the incident and they have been identified and against them strict action will be taken.
Singh was talking to reporters on the sidelines of a wreath-laying ceremony organized to honor the 7 ITBP men who were killed in a road accident in South Kashmir yesterday.
Dilbagh Singh said that anti-peace elements don’t want peace to prevail in Kashmir and they are frustrated the way the situation is emerging and remained peaceful on August 5 and 15.
On August 5, 2019, the Government of India annulled the limited Special Status of Jammu and Kashmir.
Singh said that militants are trying to disturb the peace but all their attempts will be foiled. He said Kashmir is witnessing a positive change much to the displeasure of those who are inimical to peace. (KNT)
