Many houses were damaged due to heavy rainfall in Udhampur district of Jammu and Kashmir. One house collapsed resulting in the death of two babies.
Official sources told news agency Kashmir News Trust that a mud house collapsed in Samole village of Tikri block during the intervening night of Friday and Saturday.
They said that two babies got buried under the debris and during the rescue operation, their dead bodies were recovered.
Official sources added that the victims were aged between two months and one-and-a-half years.
Due to heavy rainfall, other mud houses were damaged also.
Police and revenue officials rushed to the spot to assess the situation.
Pertinently, heavy rains also triggered flash floods in Katra prompting authorities to suspend the nocturnal yatra to Vaishno Devi Temple for the whole night. (KNT)
