SHO Shergari who thrashed Journalists attached

Srinagar:  The police officer who thrashed Journalists in the heart of Srinagar city yesterday has been attached to District Police Lines Srinagar.

Pertinently, Inspector Aftab Ahmed, Station House Officer Shergari Police Station Srinagar beat up Journalists near Jahangir Chowk Srinagar on Wednesday when they were covering the processions related to 8th Muharram.

The police officer’s behaviour has drawn flak and was widely condemned, prompting Jammu Kashmir Police Chief Dilbagh Singh to direct SSP Srinagar to take action against the erring police officers.

SSP Srinagar has issued an order attaching Inspector Aftab to DPL Srinagar.

Besides, SHO Shergari Aftab, SHO Maisuma Inspector Mushtaq Ahmed has also been attached to District Police Lines Srinagar.

SHO Police Station Kothi Bagh Ishaq Ahmed has been transferred and posted as SHO Rajbagh while Inspector Mudasir Nazir has been appointed SHO Kothibagh.

Inspector Manzoor Ahmed, presently SHO Police Post Bagiya has been transferred and posted as In charge police post Nehru Partk while In Charge Police Post Nehru Park Ghulam Mustafa has been attached to District Police Lines Srinagar.

Sub-Inspector Sheikh Adil who was presently att
ached with the SP office South Srinagar has been made in charge police post Bagiyas.

In charge police post Urdu Bazar Sub Inspector Showkat Ali Darzi has been transferred and posted SHO Maisuma.

Sub Inspector Zaheer Nisar has been made in charge police post Urdu Bazar.

While hailing the immediate action of the Director General of Police Dilbagh Singh, a couple of Journalists told news agency Kashmir News Trust that they are mulling to approach the court against a police officer who smashed their cameras.  (KNT)
