Body of drowned kid retrieved from the river in J&K’s Poonch

Police with the help of locals retrieved the body of a 10-year-old boy who had been washed away during a flash flood in Poonch district of Jammu and Kashmir.

The victim identified as Muhammad Asif of Arai village of Mandi tehsil had been drowned in Mandi river yesterday and since then river police and locals been part of an operation to locate his body.

An official told news agency Kashmir News Trust that the body of the victim was retrieved near Sathra village from the river. After the completion of the required legal formalities, the body was handed over to the family members for last rites. (KNT)
