Four grenade throwers working on the directions of incarcerated militants at Srinagar Central Jail arrested: Police
Awantipora,: Police on Monday said that it busted a grenade-throwing module linked with banned militant outfit LeT by arresting four militant associates and thereby averted major catastrophic militant attacks.
The arrested militant associates have been identified by Awantipora police as Aqib Manzoor Bhat, Mudasir Ahmed Bhat, Ghulam Muhammad Ahanger, all residents of Haffu Tral and Waris Bashir Najar of Sheikh Mohalla Chewa Uller, Tral.
“Three-hand grenades have been recovered from their possession,” police said.
Police said that Waris Bashir Najar was involved in throwing a grenade on Army camp at Mandoora on the evening of 1st March.

Police said that during preliminary investigation, it came to fore that they were carrying grenade throwing activities on the directions of Hizb slain militant’s son Irshad Ahmed Bhat, a resident of Wailoo Pattan who is currently lodged in Central Jail Srinagar in a murder case and Mustakeem Ahmed Ahangar alias Waheed Ahangar resident of Hafoo Tral who too is lodged at Central Jail Srinagar in connection with a case lodged against him under Arms Act. Both Mustakeem and Irshad are coordinating militant activities even from Central Jail Srinagar.
Police said that in this regard, an FIR vide number 21/2022 under relevant sections of law has been registered and investigation has been initiated.
“More arrests are expected in the instant case once further links are investigated and established,” police said. (KNT)
