Policeman who sustained injuries after hit by a load-carrier in Srinagar succumbs

Srinagar: The policeman who had sustained critical injuries after hit by a load-carrier while performing his duty in Rainawari area of Srinagar succumbed to his injuries.

While divulging information about the incident, a police officer told news agency Kashmir News Trust that on 13 December a load carrier (JK01C-3906) hit a police head constable Iftikar Hussain (14/S) when he as usual was performing his duty at Zaind Shah Masjid Chowk in Rainawari.

The police constable was shifted to SKIMS shortly after sustaining injuries where he died after spending 10 days in the hospital.

Police in this regard registered an FIR vide number 69/2014 under relevant sections of law and arrested the erring driver.

The police official identified the accused driver as Showkat Ismail Langoo, a resident of Hassanabad Rainawari.

Meanwhile a CCTV Footage of the incident has gone viral where one can see a load carrier knocking down a policeman while a lady having a miraculous escape. (KNT)
