Thankful to LG for ordering probe, but return the dead body and identify killers, says businessman Altaf’s brother

Srinagar: The family of slain businessman Altaf Ahmed Dar killed in Hyderpora encounter has thanked LG Manoj Sinha for ordering magisterial probe but added that killers should be identified and booked and the body should be returned to them.

Talking to media after LG Manoj Sinha ordered a magisterial inquiry into the Hyderpora encounter, the brother of slain businessman Abdul Majid Bhat said that he is thankful to LG that he felt the pain of the victim families.

“We want that dead body should be returned to us and also those who killed my brother should be identified and booked,” he said adding that his brother was innocent and murdered in cold blood.

He said if it proves that his brother had militant links then hang him in broad day light but he knows his brother was innocent and there is a dire need to book those who killed him.

“I am satisfied the way LG ordered the probe but we need the dead body. The family is suffering immensely and the children of Altaf want to see his face one last time, so dead body should be returned to the family,” he said.

Pertinently, “A magisterial inquiry by an officer of ADM rank has been ordered in the Hyderpora encounter. The government will take suitable action as soon as report is submitted in a time-bound manner. Jammu and Kashmir admin reiterates commitment of protecting lives of innocent civilians and it will ensure there is no injustice,” the office of LG J&K said in a tweet. (KNT)
