Mendicants practicing black magic deprive naïve woman of her hard-earned money

Budgam: Non-local mendicants who practice sorcery deceived a naïve woman in Central Kashmir’s Budgam village and deprived her of hard-earned money.

Sources told news agency Kashmir News Trust that scores of non-local mendicants practicing sorcery visit houses and befool people. They target those houses where only females are present and are expert in convincing people that they double whatever money they have in their house.

One of the victims of these mendicants is Hameeda Bano, a resident of Khanpora Khag area of Budgam.

“A couple of days back, three mendicants entered my house when I was all alone. They started reciting some mantras and after asking several questions convinced me that they will double my money. They started drawing circles on a piece of paper and continued to recite some mantras,” she said.

Hameeda Bano said that she was convinced that they will double her money and without giving any second thought handed over Rs 25,000 to them. “They took the money and continued to draw circles on the piece of paper. After sometime, one of them handed over a bundle of ‘currency’ packet to me and asked me to keep it in almirah and once I open that almirah after 15 days, I will find Rs 50,000,” she said.

Hameeda Bano said that she really felt that mendicants gave her cash.

She said next day, she narrated the episode before her neighbour who said they (mendicants) have deceived her. “I immediately opened the almirah and to my shock, there was not a single currency note but only piece of papers,” she said and appealed people if some mendicant visits their house, don’t believe in them and get them arrested.
