Lightening kills over a dozen sheep in South Kashmir Forest area

ANANTNAG: A thunderbolt in South Kashmir’s remote forest area killed over a dozen sheep grazing in pastures high in the mountains, official sources said.

The lightning struck after massive rainfall on late Wednesday in Guridramn Larnoo Forest area of Kokarnag in South Kashmir’s Anantnag district. Over a dozen sheep were killed in a jiffy after the lightening.

Sources told news agency Kashmir News Trust that because of the remoteness of the area, villagers have not been able to reach the site yet. The high pasture is the traditional grazing ground for the livestock and dairy farmers during Summers.

The sheep belonged to a nomad namely Abdul Satar Sheikh son of Abdul Aziz, a resident of Lathoong Surankote. (KNT)
