Kashmir: Militant killed in South, Infiltration bid foiled in North
SRINAGAR: Joint Forces Friday claimed that it foiled an infiltration bid in the Tangdhar sector of North Kashmir’s Kupwara district and recovered arms, ammunition and drugs left behind by the infiltrators.
Police said that soldiers from 7 Rashtriya Rifles and Border Security Force personnel from 87 Battalion were part of the operation along with the police.
Jammu Kashmir Police in a tweet said that: “Kupwara Police along with 7RR and 87Bn BSF foiled infiltration bid at Tangdhar area. Recovered arms, ammunitions and drugs left behind by the infiltrators.”
The arms and ammunition recovered include one AK-47, one pistol and two grenades.
As many as six packets of Heroin drug with a market value of around Rs 30 crores were also recovered, it said.

Meanwhile, an unidentified militant was killed in an encounter in South Kashmir’s Shopian district. The gunfight broke out after Joint Forces cordoned off Hanjipora village of Shopian.
The village was brought under the siege after inputs about the presence of militants. During search operation, there was a face-off between militants and joint forces. The exchange of fire resulted into the killing of a militant.
The combing operation was in progress till the filing of this report. (KNT)
